Cool Search engine.. !! I’ve found it on last Saturday when I get meeting at Starbucks, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur with my boss. KartOO is a metasearch engine with visual display interfaces using flash. When you click on OK, KartOO launches the query to a set of search engines, gathers the results, compiles them and represents them in a series of interactive maps through a proprietary algorithm.

KartOO is a next-generation meta search engine which displays a visual interface. It was co-founded in France by two cousins, Laurent and Nicholas Baleydier. This project was then launched in 2001. Most of their advertisement has been through word of mouth. KartOO has the quality to redefine searches with a click of the mouse. A topic list is displayed on the side as suggested words. Recently, KartOO created a new version called UJIKO (they are actually the five keys on the keyboard like the concept of QWERTY). The interface looks more like a “jukebox” with the linked sites as playlists, where you can add or delete your preference.

KartOO has an incredibly advanced GUI. It has a unique color scheme that is a small bit reminiscent of Apple Computer’s Aqua interface. Once you enter a new search in the Flash version you come up with a “map” of results. There are blob-like masses of varying color that connect each item. on rollover of an individual result a bunch of red lines connect related links. Basically, if one begins their search with a general topic, KartOO helps to narrow it down. Every “blob” you click adds another word to your search query.
